About Yomod
What is Yomod?
Yomod is a social network geared specifically to tweens. It incorporates user-generated content, blogging, entertainment channels, and customizable member profile pages in a fun, safe environment.
How does Yomod work?
Members create profiles in a safe online community and interact with other members their age on subjects that interest them (e.g. entertainment, sports, art, education, video games etc.). Members also submit, view, share, rate and comment on videos, photos, and other content published daily on Yomod.
Why do parents approve of Yomod?
Yomod is engineered to be safe for its members. Unlike other web sites that only post a written policy or put all the responsibility on parents, Yomod creates a new standard for Internet security by building safety into the architecture of the web site. Yomod's unique safety procedures strike a balance between member independence and security:
• Yomod members are who they say they are. Yomod authenticates each member's identity by requiring a parent or guardian to submit a valid credit card to complete registration. The card is never charged but information contained within the card is used to verify the parent/guardian's identity and consent.
• Yomod content is appropriate for members. Our staff of content moderators reviews video and photo content before it is published to make certain it is age-appropriate.
• Non-members/public users cannot contact members or view member profiles, photos or other member posted content. All member profiles and member posted content are stored behind a secure closed network and cannot be accessed by Internet search engines or non-members. Only a member's accepted "buddies" can comment on member profiles and content.
The Yomod site complies with the strictest privacy protocols as enumerated in the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Parents can feel exceedingly comfortable about their child's safe exploration of social networking via Yomod. And for kids, it's just plain fun.
Who is Yomod?
Yomod was founded by four friends with experience in Internet technologies, entertainment and media, tween pop culture, and the legal issues surrounding online privacy and security.
